About Us

The Foundation for Sustainable Development (FSD) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of disadvantaged communities across rural India.

Under the leadership of Dr. Kandasamy Krishnan, FSD focuses on creating sustainable, long-lasting change through targeted programs in education, healthcare, women’s empowerment, tribal rights, human rights and environmental stewardship. By prioritizing community involvement, we ensure that the people we serve are at the heart of every initiative we undertake.

Our mission is to empower India’s rural communities through sustainable development.

Founder’s Story

Dr. Kandasamy Krishnan was born and raised in a small rural community, where he witnessed firsthand the struggles caused by limited access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunity.

Growing up surrounded by families who worked tirelessly yet remained trapped in poverty, Dr. Krishnan resolved early on to dedicate his life to uplifting the most vulnerable. His personal experiences instilled in him a deep understanding of the structural barriers facing underserved communities—an understanding that would become the driving force behind his lifelong commitment to social change.

After completing his studies and establishing a career that spanned academia and development work, Dr. Krishnan founded the Foundation for Sustainable Development (FSD) as a way to create tangible, long-term impact in India’s remote regions. Drawing on his experiences in rural India, he shaped FSD’s programs to focus on what he recognized as the most pressing needs: education, healthcare access, women’s empowerment, and sustainable livelihoods.

Dr. Krishnan firmly believes that true progress arises when local communities are given the right tools and support to build their own brighter futures. Through FSD, he has devoted his efforts to nurturing self-reliance among rural populations, ensuring that every project sparks a ripple effect of transformation that can be felt for generations to come.
